I think the mechanical cards should be expanded. Technically every card added is an addition to the game, especially if you wish to garner a roleplayer base as well as a normal player base. But I know you are focusing on developing the various styles, so I am suggesting mechanical card expansion.
Mechanical cards would focus on a total domination style, they would have low attack power, but high bonuses and practically none of them would have the option to attack the population. Forcing the player to instead assault the castle. They would have unique combat characteristics but unique weaknesses to go along with them.
Also spell card like cards that don’t cost magic but instead cost resources.
