We released the new version last night. As mentioned in the last post, it features an complete overhaul of the rule system. Everything is positioned now. Here are the details:
Movement You can play units and buildings everywhere in your kingdom (the first three rows). Movement is allowed in all directions. Flyers can move 2 spaces at once.
Attack Most units have two kind of attack actions. The first one allows to attack opposing units. Any unit can attack an enemies in the front or on the sides. To attack the opponent’s population, a unit have to use its second attack. This is only possible, if the unit crossed the field and stands in the last row of the opponent’s kingdom.
New Tagging System Cards have tags. They tell you – for example – if the card is building or a human. Each card can have an unlimited number of tags. Example: Sir Aran has the following tags:
- unit
- organic
- human
- male
- knight
Tags can be used for an attack bonus or for targeting. Examples:
- The Assassin has an attack of +5 vs humans.
- Combustion does 50 points of damage – but targets only buildings
Buildings and Siege Engines All buildings have health now. They are much tougher than units. There are however siege engines like the battering ram, that provides an attack bonus against buildings.
Other Changes
- I fixed a dreadful bug, that prevented the game from running in IE7 (Internet Explorer 7). So IE7 is a supported browser again.
- Minor fixes for other browsers (e.g. the displacement bug in Opera)
- Some (very) minor changes to the layout
- I had to disable the AI (Computer Opponent). It is no longer compatible with the new system. I will, however, write a new one that can play by the new rules. This might take a while.
- The resize bug is fixed. You can now press F11 to put the browser to fullscreen, even after game start.
- Many small improvements
